Here is a quick reference guide for eating out.
Remember, eat at your own risk!
There could be numerous reasons why your meal could be cross-contaminated. Order carefully.

My two top choices:
* Chipotle Mexican Grill- I love their steak burrito bowls. I also love the guacamole, I could eat it plain.
Everything on the menu is safe except for the large/small flour tortilla (duh) and the red tomatillo salsa.
Here is their special diet information.
* Noodles and Co.- Weird I know, noodles just scream gluten, but Noodles and Co. will substitute in rice noodles. They are also very careful and I've never had a problem. Make sure when ordering you say gluten intolerance/allergy and your order will be flagged.
I love the Pesto Cavatappi and the Penne Rosa.
Here is a list of the other GF options at Noodles and Co.
Pizza:
I did some research on the big pizza chains to see if there were any options. I included the allergen chart but it doesn't look so promising at the major chains. Most of the toppings and cheese are gluten-free, but what are you going to put it on?
* Pizza Hut- Not much here. Didn't see salads listed as an option.
* Domino's- Same as above, most of the salads/dressing contained gluten.
* Papa Murphy's- Same, couldn't find much here.
* Papa John's- If you are going to a major pizza chain, this might be the place...there are some salads and the roasted chicken wings do not contain wheat. Gluten I'm not sure, you will have to find the ingredients list. That could be promising.
These chains are smaller and not everywhere, but their pizza is good and they serve a gluten free crust. And, it's really fun being able to eat take-out pizza with everyone else:
* Barros Pizza- Here is the menu, I couldn't find an actual ingredients/allergen list. When you order, just be sure to tell the cashier you would like a gluten-free crust and ask what toppings/sauces are gluten free. They will know, or they will ask. It was very efficient the few times that I have been there. I would recommend the Barros Special, Hawaiian or the Barbecue Chicken.
* Z Pizza- This is a California based, organic inspired pizza place. Don't let that fool you, it's pretty good. Here is a list of gluten-free options, and here is their menu.
Burgers:
If it's a hamburger and fries that you want here's a list of the more popular chains.
McDonalds
Burger King
Wendy's
Jack in the Box
Carl's Jr.
In-N-Out (They will not give out an info via email, phone only. I was told menu items are gluten free, except for the bun. When ordering, order "Protein-Style", meaning wrapped in lettuce.)
Sonic
Arby's
Culvers
Dairy Queen
Hardees
Chicken:
Chick-fil-a
Kentucky Fried Chicken
El Pollo Loco
Tacos
Chipotle
Qdoba
Baja Fresh
Taco Time
Taco Bell
Sandwiches:
Subway
Quiznos
Smoothies:
Jamba Juice
Keva Juice
Smoothie King
Chinese:
Panda Express
Pei-Wei
